Heimtex January 2010

Every year in January, world's biggest international fair for home- and contract textiles is held in Frankfurt.

Over 2,500 exhibitors from 60 countries presented the latest collections and trends for bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as fabrics for windows, floors and wall decoration.

BN Wallcoverings caught everyone's attention this year with a completely new stand design. The central display was almost 6 meters high - a real eyecatcher - which showed off our latest wallcovering collections to great effect. The white metallic floor, tables and chairs added to the contemporary style, and fitted seamlessly into the open plan concept. Full attention was therefore reserved for the 3 new introductions; Shadows on the Wall, Inspire en Claire.

Despite the economic crisis, our stand was very busy with existing and new customers, press, suppliers and other industry colleagues. The renowned designer of lighting sculptures Annet van Egmond also joined us, to promote her wallcovering collection Shadows on the Wall. All in all, a very satisfying fair with lots of positive feedback and compliments, resulting in an exciting start for 2010!

Shadows on the Wall

For the first time, BN Wallcoverings introduced a true designers collection named Shadows on the Wall.

Annet van Egmond, of the Dutch design duo Brand Van Egmond, designed the exceptional prints for this new collection. It revolves around the themes of 'fashionable', 'sensual' and 'romantic'.

Annet van Egmond: "Both BN Wallcoverings and Brand van Egmond combine a traditional approach with the commitment to high quality design. We have certainly achieved this with Shadows on the Wall."

"The Shadows on the Wall wallcoverings are like a warm blanket on the wall. As much as light defines a space, so does this wallcovering. It consists of various layers, each produced using a different technique such as engraving, screen printing and embossing roller, layer upon layer. A lot of feeling goes into this wallcovering. Even literally: it invites touching", so says Annet van Egmond.

About Annet van Egmond

Twenty years ago, Annet van Egmond and her partner William Brand founded Brand van Egmond. Inspired by a Philips light bulb, they decided lighting could be more than a source of light. Today, their imposing light sculptures can be found in homes, hotels and offices throughout the world. Traditional techniques are part of their vision: all designs are handmade in the Netherlands and neighbouring countries. www.brandvanegmond.com

Inspire

Another collection which was introduced on the Heimtex fair last January, is called Inspire. The designers at BN's design lab found inspiration in tactile effects and architectural shapes, such as the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing. The latest in printing techniques and materials were used in the manufacture. The various layers within the wallcovering and the use of metallic accents create a constant play of light, which seems to breathe life into walls. Thus, the Inspire collection continues to surprise.

The Inspire collection is a combination of surprising designs, unexpected inspiration and the use of a lot of different materials. Using a thin layer of foam, the weblike shapes of the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing are imprinted onto a flat surface. The light metallic underneath provides an extraordinary reflection of light. Another design shows metallic rectangles on a coloured background, reminiscent of lit windows in a skyline of skyscrapers. Although linear, the design has a degree of playfulness, thanks to the various levels. It is this variation in design, which makes the collection so refreshing.

Opening Hampshire Hotel Delft Centre

On the 22nd April 2010, Hampshire Hotel Delft Centre will celebrate it's official opening! Examples of this 4 star hotel's musical theme can be found throughout the hotel. There's a piano in the foyer, and the curtains there are decorated with musical - inspired prints. In the breakfast room, several instruments adorn the walls and in the 92 bedrooms, pictures can be found of pop history icons.

BN Wallcoverings, together with Hotel Delft Centre, designed a unique digital wallpaper. The pattern is a myriad of pop concert tickets, all of which have been collected by the owners of the hotel, obviously true concert lovers. This artwork can now be admired in every corridor as wall decoration. In the bedlooms, a light beige has been chosen for the walls selected from BN Wallcovering' collection. On the surface, an artist has painted texts, linking back to the central musical theme of the hotel.

Hotel Delft Centre is located very near to the centre of Delft and is therefore ideal as a starting point for your business or leisure trip. BN Wallcoverings and Hotel Delft Centre wish you a pleasant stay in this beautiful hotel.
